Strand leader: Dr Andy Phillips

The current activities of the Photonic Communications Technology research strand include:

  • non-linear optical effects in SOAs for wavelength conversion and functional photonics

  • BER evaluation of optical communication systems

  • novel optical materials

  • optical power budget / amplification in photonic integrated circuits (PICs)

  • analysis of components in optical network / system contexts
