OMES Laboratory

The OMES Laboratory houses a robust and highly sophisticated optical measurement system, which was developed in-house for the characterisation of high-power laser diodes, photonic integrated circuits and optoelectronic materials and devices. OMES relies upon a library of different custom LabView based software routines to integrate and control a large range of sophisticated equipment to perform a wide variety of different, user-defined characterisation experiments, including photocurrent (PC) spectroscopy, photo- and electro-luminescence (PL/EL) spectroscopy, PL and EL microscopy (PLM/ELM) and spectroscopically resolved PLM/ELM (S-PLM/S-ELM). The physical layout of OMES was specifically designed to facilitate the rapid reconfiguration of the experimental setup, which is needed to support several research activities simultaneously.
